Waco Eclipse

Print Design

Situation

The Waco Eclipse event required a captivating logo that visually represented its theme while being versatile enough for various applications, including t-shirts, posters, and coloring sheets.

Task

As the graphic designer tasked with this project, my objective was to create a logo that effectively communicated the concept of an eclipse while ensuring it could be easily reproduced on merchandise with a single color for screen printing.

Action

I began by conceptualizing different design ideas that incorporated elements of an eclipse while maintaining simplicity and clarity. Inspired by the event's theme, I devised a concept where the letters "c" and "o" in "Waco" were stylized to resemble overlapping phases of an eclipse. This design not only captured the essence of the event but also lent itself well to various applications.

Next, I translated the logo design onto t-shirts, posters, and coloring sheets, ensuring consistency across all materials while adapting the design to suit each format's requirements. For the t-shirt design, I simplified the logo to ensure it could be effectively screen printed using a single color, optimizing it for production while maintaining visual impact. Additionally, I created a poster layout that highlighted the logo prominently and designed a coloring sheet version for interactive engagement.

Result

The finalized logo for the Waco Eclipse event successfully captured the theme of an eclipse while maintaining simplicity and versatility. Its innovative design featuring overlapping letters "c" and "o" effectively conveyed the concept, garnering positive feedback from event organizers and attendees alike. Furthermore, the adaptation of the logo onto t-shirts, posters, and coloring sheets ensured cohesive branding across all event materials, contributing to a memorable and visually impactful experience for participants.
